Our journey began in 1990, when Michael Keat, mentored by industry legend Caleb Wyatt and inspired by masters like Francis Reid, founded Theatre Lamp & Lighting Supplies. With a background in lighting dating back to 1974, Michael’s early days were spent illuminating iconic performances at venues like the New Plymouth Opera House and the Bowl of Brooklands, working on shows from “Les Miserables” to “Crowded House.”
Starting with just a few lighting desks and fixtures, Michael’s commitment transformed a garage operation into a thriving business. By 1998, we had expanded into our central New Plymouth workshop, continually growing our inventory to include an extensive range of lighting, staging, and by 2005, cutting-edge sound equipment from industry leaders like Meyer and Yamaha.
